If I were the Australian Prime Minister, I would inflict punishment on the criminals more heavily.
The criminals must not do it over again. They deserve to die a thousand deaths for that crime.

Hello Katsuya,
I see by your comment that you feel very strongly about this problem. I too feel that the criminals should be punished much more severely than they are in Australia today.
Unfortunately, we no longer have the death penalty in Australia. They changed the law many years ago. In fact the last person to be hanged in Australia was a man called Ronald Ryan back in 1967. I remember it well because I was a young girl of 16 and there was a great deal of debate about it in the newspapers at the time.
Even the Prime Minister cannot order someone to be put to death. In order for the death penalty to be part of our judicial system, the law would have to be changed. This would mean that the law would have to be passed through both houses of parliament,i.e., the Senate which is the upper house and the House of Representatives which is the lower house.
